What weird stuff this must be
I sometimes have to think outside my box and wonder what this stuff sounds like for people who know the bassoon as an
orchestral instrument. I just posted another tune at the podcasting page at feed.jazzbassoon.com -as we've been
working this week. It must be pretty strange for those who haven't heard the instrument before. Yes-I guess it is compared to the normal setting but I've always been around musicians who bend the rules in a good way. Bela Fleck, Andy Narell,Tracy Silverman (who may be on this record), et.al. I know there's still a weird instrument club in jazz and improvised music. Even so-within the world of music there's so many crossbreeds and hybrids. I don't like to have to define what style of music something is but we live in a labeling society because how else would we have any mental impression in our heads of different things, different art, different music, different style? Enough of that-this tune, let me describe it.
Shire Webmix B is the name of this uncompleted version of a tune with the word Shire in it. It's basically a tribal country dance mixed with a funky groove played by bassoon harmonizer. I don't want to overdo the harmonizer stuff on this record but this is one feature-the melody does not utilize harmonizer at all. There's a few audio clips and pops that I've not spend 10 hours getting out as this is just a rough fresh from the studio. A few warts here and there.
