Rehearsals and Charts
I'll try to keep this short-I'm not used to blogging and what I've written so far seems like a lot for me. We figured out that
the downloads on the podcast page weren't in the right sample rate-that's why early on some of the downloads seemed lover in pitch. Today-the rehearsals for a live band recording were set up. On March 13th I will do 4 tunes with my good friends Victor Little on bass, Paul Van Wageningen on drums, Eric Levy on Fender Rhodes and Mike Olmos on trumpet.
As much fun as I'm having being a multi-bassoon tracking recording hermit-nothing beats just getting a band together
and rehearsing a little bit and just playing. I picked some tunes that should be fun for us to work out. Had to write a lot of charts but that's the price you pay for the right notes and happy musicians.
I'm trying to describe tunes like the one called "DarkWeb". If anyone has any clue to what style that is let me know. I could say something like "Funky Eastern-European influenced melodic jazz" but I really am not good at describing it. I know what I like in music-I've always liked the feel and the form of how the melodies of Eastern European folk music have a lot of swirling activity that is full of rhythm and harmony. Lots of propulsion.

The tunes are sounding real good Paul! Great Job dude!!

Hey Pascal-thanks for the comment! And sorry about not getting back to you soon. I've been in and out of town. More recording tomorrow! You play thru an Roland AC60? Have you ever tried the Roland JC series? That was my first amp; bought it 25 years ago
and it still works (my dad uses it for his keyboard).
Keep up the good work and thanks again!
