Haroun and Cherie

Here's Haroun and Cherie at Prager Port Works in Napa Valley. We were on a "business trip"-you can see Vic's hand with a glass of Noble Companion as we go over the "plans of deployment". Haroun's got the producer chair on this album-it's great to have a fellow musician who has a really good sense of taking the middle ground between "producing" and just pushing the record button. It's a fine line-sometimes I need to take a break but I won't know it. Haroun's got the patience to let me flail about if I need to but also to tell me when things aren't productive. What's so great for me is that we both like the experimentation within a framework. When-as a bassoonist-do I get to try different pre-amps, re-amping technique through all kinds of cabinets, different micing approaches for different songs? That I think has been productive here with this project. Without getting stuck in technology which is great. It's still about the magic of the take and the song.
